Recommend the latter.<br /><br />Optically, I'd suggest it's better than the 18-200mm (less of a compromise in its construction); less barrel/pincushion distortion. But it feels plasticky - though as a result it's light.<br /><br />For a go-anywhere, do (most) things, it is excellent.
