Too early for my first meeting this morning, I took a stroll through Sadyba, a part of Mokotów district, lying south-south west of the city centre. Sadyba was built before the war as a garden suburb, with houses rather than apartments dominating. The original gas lighting is one of Sadyba's unique features. Like Żoliborz to the north of Warsaw's centre, Sadyba was a rather exclusive, 'officers' suburb'.
Above: Pre-war housing on junction of ul. Wysowska and ul. Zdrojowa. Note gas lamp.
Below: Post-war housing on ul. Klarysewska. A nice part of Warsaw, well-located for the centre (the area lies between two three-lane highways into town), but for me, insufficiently rural.
