Crumbling neo-classicism in Grabów

Prompted by a comment from KG to yesterday's post, I popped by via Grabów on my way home. Ul. Puławska was for some reason completely solid this evening (anyone know why?), so a detour down the back roads of Grabów made a pleasant alternative to sitting in stationary traffic.

So here we have on the corner of ul. Krasnowolska and ul. Tramblanki a 150 year old neo-classical dworek (manor house). In a right two-and-eight*, it seems to be still inhabited. We are just six miles from the very centre of Warsaw. (Google Earthers - we're looking at 52° 8'32.25"N, 20°59'58.21"E).

Who lives here and what's likely to become of this slice of local history is unknown to me; I hope it get sold to a culturally-sensitive person with the wealth and taste to return this dworek to its former glory.

This time last year:
Off into Mazowsze by bike

*Cockney rhyming slang. "Two and eight" = "state".

Thank You Michael for this post. Situation on the Polish Heritage Market is very poor. Our "dworek" is only the example. Many interesting old houses in Poland are ruins...
Finally, look at your photo! What's a contradiction beetwen elevation condition and straight mowed grass...incredible =/

There is (was?) a dworek in Pyry (plot on corner of ul. Puławska and ul. Baletowa). The place was a tumble-down heap, but on the konserwator zabytków's list. Funnily enough, it burnt down just as the plot was acquired by an investor. The shell is still there.

...there is "old polish saying": "Zabytek chroniony prawem i niczym więcej". =/
Michael. You wrote a lot of quintessential Jeziorki two days ago, so I afford to say about one of the "non-written festival" which is very important for me in my local-life and may be very interesting for peoples who lives in Old Służew, Służewiec, Zielony Ursynów, Grabów and Jeziorki. That is "opeaning season day" at the beautiful,pre-war Służewiec-hippodrome. Enormous hippodrome, horse presentation, and equestrian racing...unique pleasantness. The first day of equestrian racing in 2008 will start on 28 June at 2.30 pm, second day on 29 June at 2.30pm!!! I recommend that for everyone, who wants to spend interesting time and makes good photos. I will be there... =)
