Hurrah for new pavement!

Shortly after the new mayor took office in Chynów municipality, he posted a questionnaire on social media as to which stretches of road most needed a pavement alongside. The answer overwhelmingly one to build pavement to the Dino supermarket, which opened in 2022. At last one can safely walk or cycle there without fear of being hit by speeding traffic.

Below: the newly opened stretch of pavement/cyclepath running alongside the old DK50, ending, for the time being at least, at the supermarket. The new infrastructure was funded exclusively by the municipality.

Below: looking the other way, east towards Chynów from the supermarket exit. Across the road is Hotel Chynów, a popular venue for wedding and first Holy Communion receptions. One can now walk the entire 3.5km from the far end of Jakubowizna to here along decent pavements.

Below: looking once more the other way, west towards Drwalew and Grójec. The municipality plans to extend the path further, which would be a great benefit for local cyclists. Parents with children will be able to safely cycle between Drwalew and Chynów. I've walked this stretch (from Lasopole to Chynów) a couple of times, and although there's not much traffic, it is fast and the walk can get scary.

The municipality is seeking external funding (EU?) for the next stretch of pavement/cyclepath. I look forward to strolling into Drwalew for a pizza! I am also hoping for a bus service that links the Warsaw-Radom line at Chynów station with Grójec...
