It's grim up north!
Seriously, I found taking a train through Silesia from Katovice to Wroclaw brought Britian to mind. Red brick factories, dark satanic (ex) mills, rows of red brick flats. Though more like Glasgow, where the tenemants are higher (four or five floors). In England, the Coronation Street terraces were always only two floors high.
